Annual Leave Question

Agreed to cancel a week's leave due to staff shortage before Christmas. Now when asking for that week back, been told that it's not possible due to overbooked leave in 2015/16. Cannot be serious, surely?

Not the point though, is it? The DIMs are very quick to ask a favour but getting it back, well like getting cr*p out of a rocking horse. He is entitled to his statutory leave in any given year, by law and that is what the office or DIM should ensure happens.

Unfortunately I've learnt to use the "I have plans" technique whenever possible.

If you DO want to be a nice guy, have a contract drawn up, incorporating the terms you will later rely on, signed by both parties and witnessed by a jury of twelve.

It's the old adage that's prevalent in Royal Mail. A good deed never goes unpunished. Your only option is to insist on having it sometime between now and the new leave year, and if they still refuse bung in a grievance.
