We have a colleague who is currently on a stage 1 and really concerned about taking more time off in case the stage 2 is triggered.

The problem is that he has a weakened immune system and is more likely to pick up bugs etc.

Does the company take things like that into account or is it is more likely a tough luck, you fall below the standards!

Any help would be appreciated.

ask to be referred to OH Assist in an informal chat with the DOM, explaining the problems he has.

Hopefully he explained the problem when he had his interview.

Depends on the reason for a weakened immune system, Diabetes is covered under the quality act as is cancer. If subject to either he needs to get the manager to refer him to OH Assist (new name for ATOS) so they can risk assess them. This is in their and the businesses interest, although the manager may not see it that way.

Ask the manager to arrange an informal review and then get your colleague to disclose his weakened immune system to him in said meeting.
Don't hold your breath though as they never do this despite being a so called integral part of the attendance agreement. :roll: :cuppa
