Hours after a Bank holiday..

Hi, I think the gaffer in our delivery office is trying to pull a fast one, I`m a full-time postie on the Wallington( five weeks on, one week off) method, we work long and short days, Tuesday being the shortest and Wednesday being the longest, he`s claiming that after a Bank holiday Monday off we have Mondays hours on the Tuesday and then after that the hours revert straight back to normal, essentially we have been given the shortest day off!, my question/s are this, what day/hours are given to us as our public holiday and how many hours are we supposed to work in a week when this happens?, it was chaos last week when we returned to work on the Wednesday (cheers for the two days off!), we were expected to shift a weeks d2d`s in four days and yet again we had running battles with the management over what hours belonged to each day!!..

We swapped Tuesday and Wednesdays hours so Tuesday long day and Wednesday short day

They always do that. The B Hol will always be considered your short day. As Glenfiddich says the Wed would be the Tuesday in this scenario.

Had this problem before. Getting paid/credited Tuesday hours (shortest) for a bank holiday Monday and told Tuesday is a long day like a Monday. Give and take I suppose, we give and they take.

I agree. Most of us didn't want longs and short days and yet it got pushed through asap. Now the company have found that staff end up working longer and then claiming overtime on the shorter day (Tuesday ) because of the bank holiday - which everyone is entitled to - Tuesday now becomes Wednesday.
