Low letter boxes

Has anybody noticed the amount of low letter boxes that are appearing again, we had a few years when they started to die out, but they are back worse than ever because they have a seal inside them so it's harder to but the letters through, In my area they has just built a new estate & every letter box is on the floor.
In Ireland they have a law that every letter box has to be a certain height from the floor but nothing for us in the uk.

I bloody HATE low level letterboxes. No need for them. New ones are a pain because new letterboxes are stiffer than Ron Jeremy, old fashioned ones are a pain because they're spring loaded with enough force to take your bloody fingers off. I normally try not to be cheeky to customers but one gent (with an old fashioned low level letterbox) moaned at me for folding all of his mail so I told him to have a go himself....He put up a wall mounted letterbox within a week

This is on an estate of around 30 new builds all with low letter boxes, so i just said something like 'try doing it 30 times everyday and see how that hurts your back' and he shut up after that.

For customers it seems nothing else exists beyond the bubble of their house

they would have to bend down to pick them up anyway, regardless if the letterbox was low level, normal or high.

They can be a pain too, most of them aren't big enough to accomodate a rigid piece of A4 and they end up either crumpled or lifting the lid of the cage and just ending up on the floor anyway!

I think this is the main issue here. Our customers don't know what their own letterboxes are like to put items of mail through their door. They should try it themselves sometime, most would soon learn.
