Speaking of white elephants, World class mail ... another expensive outlay by RM which has seemingly gone by the wayside now.

always thought it's wrong the work side coaches get £36.00 a wk extra even when there not training people. In our office we had 4 new staff the first time in about a year, so coaches are getting extra money for really doing nothing most of the year. There is so much waste in RM but come the new year what's the betting it's bigger jobs, staffs cuts instead off cutting out the dead wood like coaches, any other office have people who work in the office who are not managers but do some admin work but are classed as postal workers.

Have heard World class Mail has been downgraded &I may finish altogether soon, managers who where on it moved elsewhere.

I hassled my workplace coaches no end for months on end asking every question under the sun. One of them blew up on me one day for asking too many questions. If you expect to get paid for doing nothing the job isn't for you. If you don't find helping / developing people satisfying the job isn't for you. If you aren't willing to take 5 mins out of your day to explain something, even if you are under pressure, the job isn't for you.

Agrree 100% - pathetic waste of money

The usual greedy suspects take this - and are not needed for 99% of the year

We've got 2 of them in our office. They do some "coaching" when new staff come and when there's complaints and the like, but as already said that's only maybe 1% of the year! We recently had some new staff join us, they had a day with the workplace coaches then their 2-3 days on the duty they were assigned to, I trained one of them on the round and literally the only thing she had learned in her day with the coach was how to use the new PDAs! So the coach teaches them how to use a glorified smartphone and gets his £36 extra for it, I train one of them on a round for 3 days (and also whenever there's something she's unsure of she comes to me, as do other new starts with the postie who trained them) and we get nothing? I'm not grudging it or saying that I deserve extra or anything, I just don't see how they can justify paying the coaches extra when in reality it's us "regular" posties who do the majority of the actual training

If you train someone you are entitled to the payment for those days.

When was the last time anyone coached anyone according to the coaching agreement it's purely down to the opg whom the new starter is placed with and as for getting coaching allowance good look with that it was cheaper for the business just to pay the opg who the new starters with some overtime. Not an allowance week in week out
