Help, a relative posted cards with money in with no address.

So my gran wrote out cards for all her grankids, she put about 2 grand in the cards in total. She usually gives them by hand, so on the envelope will simply be a name, no address or anything.

As she is getting old she accidently posted all the cards. (Yesterday)

Is there anyway to get the cards back?

If not what happens to the money? Goes to charity?

You could call Customer Services and describe the cards, names, where posted and how much money - and you never know they may locate them and return them.

As a colleague might be worth checking with who does collections in the area.

Chances are slim to none of getting them back.

Deficult to get back but first point to card reach is nearest mail center and if no address card stay there. Don't know how to get back from there

Hi " Sophie97" I take it you are employed with RM so if you are able to establish from your gran the location of the PB and the time this was posted you would be able to track which mail centre the collection driver offloaded the mail bag and that would be your first starting point. If the envelopes have been designed for machine sorting then they would land in the reject box and given to a manager and same would apply for a manual sort. Normally these items which are unidentifiable are sent to the returns centre in Belfast who will open hoping to find any clues to the poster but what you have described this could be difficult but there is a slim chance if all the letters for each grandchildren accumulate at the same time and evidence of the Christian names of all her grandchildren can be established and the amounts in each card then you could be lucky. Get an e-mail or telephone number for the returns centre in Belfast and pre-alert them but initially withhold the cash amounts until it becomes necessary. Good luck.

At this late stage there's a good chance that they're still in the mail centre, and as they'll also be together in a bundle I would think there's every chance she'll get them back provided you can describe them.
One unaddressed card is common, but to have several all together with the same hand-writing and clearly containing cash will likely focus someone's mind as to how and why.

I doubt they'll get to Belfast before next year. Most DO's or SO's are rammed this time of year and they'll just be piled up in trays ready for someone on light duties to bundle up and send to RLB. I remember doing my DO's once in mid-Jan from the preceding Xmas, all the cards etc. As Tman said a pile all at once with the same writing in same box and DO may ring a bell with somebody there.

Try emailing Moya or Courier. Would be good little PR story for RM if money found, top brass at local mail centre more likely to make an effort you'd think.

A question though for those who reckon there is only a slim chance of a positive result, do you mean that this money will find itself into a RM employees pocket, or that if/when found it will be retained by the company and donated to charity etc.
