Here is latest from Mount Pleasant workers' fight bulletin:
PS casuals get paid £8.20 for niht shift - on days £7.20. they have 10 hour shifts and a 30 min break (only) - and no seats!!

THIS FIGHT SHOULD BE OUR FIGHT TOO
When it comes to the attack by the government against Crown Post Office/cash handling workers, CWU leaders are making pointless gestures - huffing and puffing with no intention of blowing anyone's house down.
Says Ward, "Our ambition is to avert strike action". He wants the threat of 5 days action just before Xmas to get the government to the table, to talk about his "fresh proposal". But who knows what that is?

WHO IS REALLY SPOILING XMAS?
But PO bosses aren't entirely wrong when they say that a strike by these already decimated workmates in the few remaining Crown POs won't effect more than 3% of their service. Nor would it spoil anybody's Xmas - as some idiotic TV presenters said! But if spoiling Xmas was the CWU's intention, they were aiming at the wrong target.

WE DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS
That said - of course we need a fight for POs which are all public (not WH Smith sweetshops)! And for all PO workers to have decent wages, conditions - and occupational, DB, final salary, pensions! And that's the point here! Their DB pensions are under direct attack - as ours' soon will be. It could mean a 30% pension cut! And since the only way PO mates could win a strike over this common cause is if our battalions in RM are joined with theirs, the CWU leadership is just playing incomprehensible games by calling these mates out on their own.

WE LIKE THE WAY YOU WALK!
We were delighted to hear that Christmas casuals refused to put up with the incredible rudeness of manager B the B! They just walked out! Great! It's about time this intolerable manager got some comeuppance.

B-B AFTER BIG BONUS?
What's more, the list of B-the-B's blunders is getting longer: like trying to clear part of the work of Earlies during night shift, which has the obvious consequence of just piling up the work… through the roof! To the point that we can barely even walk on the platform! But for B the Blunderer, making a fat bonus is the only thing that counts...

THEY'RE LIKE PUPPY-DOGS
Come to think of it, this approach (and it's not just this particular manager, even if he's one of the worst) is like a dog chasing its own tail: it can never catch up! So the bonus should just get further and further out of reach!

COME UPSTAIRS!
Actually the (fewer) casuals this year are becoming even fewer as they vote with their feet against the conditions that HMP "provides". The basement is cold and then they're expected to stand in, all over the shop, without proper training like pawns on a chess-board. We invite them to join us in the warmth upstairs for a break.

DRIVERLESS VANS?
Why has RM taken the “wise” decision not to take on enough extra drivers? And this, at a time when we’re sent to the 4 corners of London to collect work from other mail centres… How we're supposed to do it this Xmas, is anybody’s guess… But we will, of course, drive with all due caution, to make sure that our loads arrive safely. And if that means late, it's not our problem.

ANARCHIST DREAM
Talk about a mess. The CFC machines are chewing up so many Xmas cards that there will thousands of people who just won't get theirs. As for the rest of the mail - these cardboard sleeves, which are supposed to be used only in emergencies, don't help as they collapse and letters and packets slip down the sides and underneath... all part of RM's merry chaos.

WORSE, YEAR ON YEAR...
So why is everything so much more disorganised this year? Outward foreign sorting was started, then stopped... and then restarted again four days later! The right hand doesn't know what the left hand's doing! If it ever did...

RM SPOILING OUR XMAS CHEER
Oh dear, the annual leave allocation for 2017-18 has also been royally cocked up. The results of the first allocation are "withdrawn" and a new one has to be done - due to a "technicality". We like that excuse. We'll use it ourselves next time we need one...

TRACKERS WE DON'T WANT...
In PSA, trackers are going to drive us crazy – in fact, some of the N1 trackers had to be sorted upstairs… which proves our point: casuals should have come at least a week earlier, and be given training for another week! As for those managers who told us that casuals weren’t needed before, as there were decreased volumes to process, they've also been proved wrong.

...AND ONE WE DO
We see inflation is up - 1.2% CPI and 2.2% RPI - which of course, never reflects the real price rises we all face. Casual workmates are now on £8.20/hr - less than the minimum "London living wage", which is £9.75/hour. Time we put up a fight for higher wages - which track prices!

And CFC's don't "chew up" Xmas cards unless there's a fault. The CFC's work at their most efficient at this time of year as the cards tend to be a uniform thickness and size. Fact.

And apart from the purely selfish motive, its not nice to stand by and turn away when you know full well that someone is being exploited.
