Koffins

Does anyone still use these?
We have been told that we are to be stopped using them and that we have to use York's to load vehicles in the yard.
This will be fun in the morning trying to get York's between the frames to load up.
Is there a Safe System of Work for Koffins, tried looking but have come up with nothing.

Only used on Segging ( collections in door work ) in our office. Although there is one Walk were the same address gets at least 20 large specials a day, Then the Coffin is Wheeled out.

I heard that they're being withdrawn from use everywhere, something to do with them not having brakes

Ours got taken away a few years ago. Reason given was health and safety because they have no brake.

At my induction (2 years ago) I was told that no office should be using them anymore, but I cant see them going any time soon in our office

got three in our office.

all are used everyday and once a month get WD40 sprayed into the bearings on the wheels.

plenty of life left in them yet.

I think we know them as ALTs in Pompey. Had loads at Slindon Street (POMC), but none at the new MPU, then then there's not enough space for them or anything else for that matter

That's an alt (I believe they've all been withdrawn from use around the country now due to not having brakes)

Can't find a picture of a koffin but they're long thing plastic sinks for lack of a better description

They are still around. Used to be loads in the office but were banned for the no brake issue. Now there are still a couple knocking about.

PS before anyone gets knickers in a twist over that pic, it's a photo crop from an mp doing a visit somewhere in Scotland, available to see on their website.

Probably much more expensive too! With Royal Mail they always seem to go for the cheapest option rather than what will work best. Mind you with the amount of broken LWT''s in our office maybe if they invested in something sturdier it would work out cheaper in the long run.
