Customers pay for their parcel to be delivered in the fastest , cheapest way, if they miss the postman, they have to rearrange or collect it, tough. We have to scan some items on the doorstep but the customer doesn't care what product has been used, whether it is tracked, signed for , 2d coded, special etc. I spend over an hour more now than I did last christmas scanning about 60 things which is costing rm overtime as well. Why can't everything be scanned at the office and only the returned stuff scanned back in, get the many spare linos doing it as they have plenty of free time. PDA's are all dead by 10am adding lots of stress to our day , all we want to do is hand over the goods not bother someone with technology . Rant over, i'm too stressed.

It really is time consuming the amount of different stuff we have to scan now, in some pkt heavy areas I reckon it probably averages out at every 4th or 5th call we have to stop and scan something.
And don't even get me started on the Chinese "specials" which don't even require a signature, have probably taken about 2 weeks to get here but we still have to deliver them by 1pm!

Interesting, that's not what DOM or PHG told us, will have to follow that up with them.

We were told by our line manager that the Chinese ones that do not require a signature do not have to be done by 1pm .

I've never worried about getting these ones done by 1pm in the 16 years or so I've been here and I've never heard anything back about it.wacko74 wrote:You don't have to deliver them by 1pm. Only special delivery guaranteed 1pm have time limits.

This keeps getting asked or queried if you search through the threads, but a response by RM to a letter in Courier July 2014 states:wacko74 wrote:mancpat wrote:You don't have to deliver them by 1pm. Only special delivery guaranteed 1pm have time limits.

I can confirm that we do not have to deliver these items, or any other inbound international items, to a
specific time. What is imperative is that we use a PDA to scan these items at the delivery point, and we don’t just post them through
the letterbox. This will ensure we are subsequently paid for the delivery of the items and provide a delivery status event
track for the item.
