Goodwill or intimidation,i always get those two mixed up...

a rare thing happened on wednesday, the overtime docket was on display next to the signing in sheets and there was no problems filling it in either (delivery area manager being in the building might of had something to do with it)

It's quite simple really, goodwill ,is what we are expected to give,whilst the"management",gives you intimidation.

When managers make the duties bigger and look at ways to put more work on us over the course of the year with bonkers indoor work plans and extra lapsing, then a lot of our goodwill has almost gone when it comes to Xmas.

And because of this, one thing that bugs me is that you can't expect your staff to work past their time if they are getting grief for the amount of time that they are going over as well! I mean surely, its in the manager's interest to come round and take some work off if that's the case?

any remaining goodwill went out the window when they brought lapsing in. Cant have your cake and eat it Royal Mail, when its quieter you want us to do extra .. .when its busy you want us to do extra too :no no

We had a little set too, the guvnor offered to take one road off us, I said thank you very very much, what shall we do with the rest, leave it in or bring it back? They don't get it, not everybody wants to be out all day. Dear Moya, needs a rethink, it is no good at all employing 19'000 extra staff to sort parcels if you have nobody to deliver the bloody things.

Ah, but you have to remember that normal mail falls off during Christmas Pressure, so while you may have an extra 50 packets for 50 different addresses, you don't have Mrs Smiths gas bill. That makes all the difference in their minds. Don't forget, like Deliver to Neighbour, it obviously doesn't take any longer.

But Mrs Smith, like ~95%+ of the delivery points, has 3+ Xmas cards all through Xmas Pressure.

I might still typically have ~4+ trays of IPS to clear down, just like outside Xmas Pressure, problem is those trays are full of thin Xmas cards and not bulky catalogues. Many more items to throw into my duty frame.

And it is good to see that now collection post boxes are getting 50+ letters per day due to Xmas cards,delivery staff are still expected to empty them, despite the agreement.

While dealing with the shoddy new PDA system that means messing about with those pesky paper forms.

Our office have recruited new posties, and while the job is not rocket science, its still going to take them a while to get up to speed

Had one guy I worked with and it was taking him at least an hour to do a loop. Its not his fault that he only had one day training before he was slung out expecting to do the job that we do; but then its not our fault either that we should be expected to work past our time because we are teaching/showing someone a new duty.
