RM really seem to be cracking down on OT expense, but its just meaning jobs arent getting done. In the end its the service which suffers, all of the problems i saw with the regulators demands of "efficiency" are coming to pass.

I still can't understand how the regulator feels it's got any business at all making comments or demands on RM's efficiency... it is completely out of their remit.

Also very strange how the regulator doesn't feel the need to scrutinise our competitors in the parcels market and look at their appalling treatment of employees and poor level of service (encouraging doorstepping pkts etc)

Unfortunately, with Royal Mail being the universal service provider means that the regulator is obligated in law to scrutinise RMs efficiency:

Ofcom has a primary duty to secure the financial sustainability of the UK’s universal postal service.
The regulator must have regard for the need for the universal service to make a reasonable commercial rate of return on the costs of providing the activities to deliver the universal service, including 6 days a week collection and delivery to all addresses in the UK. It must also ensure that the universal service is efficient, and delivers the minimum requirements set out in the Postal Services Act 2011. Opens in new window

Actually I might take that statement back, 1.5 rows of my frame still there at 2.30pm today along with various other rows around the office.

No night shift normally have 4
Only 1 hire van allowed we normally have 8 the extra staff are being giving to the park and loop duties so one person driving delivering pkts whilst the other two loop with trollys !!!Que posties getting in the backs of vans

Overtime list has gone up not many volunteers

People are knackered already!

Our manager is throwing overtime at us by asking people to work their day off but nobody wants to do it.
5 - 5.5 hour deliveries is more than enough and we look forward to our days off

are they?... not in ours there not. they've put 4 nightshifts on and ask people to put their names to a list if they want overtime. its almost open docket.

Well surely if the regulator is allowed to scrutinise RM's commercial efficiency under the guise of ''protecting the USO'' then it ought to be equally obliged to scrutinise the illegally low pay, appalling terms and conditions and unacceptable standards of service being offered by our competitors as this is surely just as much a threat to the viability of USO?

Far as I can tell manager can put in all lists they want, but whether they get agreed or not (rumours are they won't) seems to be the issue at moment. Some offices are going to be up s**t creek this Christmas by the sounds of it.
