Many newish linos and DOMs are only acting managers anyway, the company won't officially recognise them, the same way they don't give out FT contracts. So pretty much tells you what sort of job prospects you have if you jump ship.

Anyone been a lino on here and reverted back to a postie? Could they tell us just what do linos do when we've all gone out (apart from a bit of lapsing)? Surely there isn't enough customer complaints etc to keep a ratio of one to 25 posties, busy for another 5to six hrs after we've gone out. Even when the time they should be flat out managing the staff in the morning, allot of the time they are prepping walks and tidying yorks up. If I were a lino I'd be worried they are next for cutbacks.

And only one manager can sort holidays if he's off and you need a lieu day you're f**ked, one manager orders uniform,one deals with fleet.
No multitasking or flexibility,any real world company if a manager is off the others would pick up the slack.

We've got a graduate who now does all those little jobs like cleos and complaints etc giving the 5 linos LESS to do! Get rid save £££££'s for every one we don't need, maybe our shares will jump up.

I remember thinking when they brought coaches in that they would replace managers eventually.think about it,why pay 30 odd grand a year when you can pay someone 30 odd quid a week.

Don't think linos are on 30k, more like 25. Why can't we have hybrid linos who manage in a morning and then do a delivery. They would have a supplement for the extra responsibility in the morning but at least they would be doing productive work when half nine comes around, and maybe even run over their time as well (of course, they wouldn't work to time!)
