Help with delivery office inward scanning

We are having problems with inward scanning , using new PDAs, hopefully I can get some advice, as our management team cant find the solution :(
Basically we have a two man team to do the inward scanning on tracked items and , at least once a week, we are having 100s of items "failing" and showing as not scanned on the system. Who do management point the finger at?? Well obviously the posties doing the scanning but they are adamant they are doing it correctly!!
This is how they scan the tracked items:
Log into Pda......go onto indoor...go to ready for delivery.......scan each item.....when figure gets to 50 , press submit......back to ready for delivery and continue process until completed.
Is this the correct procedure ? Can anyone offer any advice/help ? Thanks in advance !!!

Are you using finger scanners? If you are, are you sharing a PDA between the finger scanners?

Does it send the data in batches of 50 in DO indoor mode? For all MC modes afaik it sends the data as you scan

Hi, we dont use the finger scanners. We have been told when the amount scanned reaches 50, we then press "submit" and they then go into the system. Then we simply press the ready for delivery button and proceed, until we reach 50 again etc etc.

When the gun hits fifty it should send automatically no need to submit.

The old pda downloaded automatically after 50 items. The advice from the trainer was to monitor the count and "submit" after 50 on the new pda. However, in practice you can scan as many as you like and it will download when you submit. Recently our office has had issues with up to 500 items shown as not scanned as ready for delivery!! I believe that this is a system fault along with logging posties out halfway through delivery!! And not being able to log on in the morning. My cynical side says that the system is not up to the peak volume of traffic!! Maybe another example of poor procurement.

We don't bother with the "press submit when you reach 50", we just keep going and hit submit when you've completed all the parcels. It's one of the definite pluses of the new hardware that you don't need to keep track of however many multiples of 50 parcels you've scanned, but can just look at the total number at the end when you hit submit. (Or do other DIMs not want to be told how many Tracked items where scanned into the office?)

What can definitely happen with the new scanners is if you go too fast then even though you'll get a beep from the box the RM's software won't register it. AIUI the first beep is generated some the underlying hardware indicating that it's scanned a barcode, however this doesn't mean it's been correctly "passed" to the RM's software running on top of said hardware. You need to wait for the 2nd beep, which is generated by the RM's software indicating that it's accepted the barcode, before you can scan the next item. (Of course, if someone's turned the volume all the way down then you won't hear that second beep.)

1 other problem. The screens are that sensitive you don't even realise you may have cleared them. No warning, it then just carries on scanning minus whatever was already scanned inward.
