Work place coach

A work place coach job has came up in my office, I am wondering could anyone tell me exactly what the job entails?

Managing various different sections in different offices, dealing with customer complaints, improving delivery targets and possibly taking out plenty of loops that posties can't manage so as to reduce staff overtime and improve the office budget??

Going by the WPC in my office job involves doing very little extra for £30 a week on top of your wages!

In our office they are on the easiest round, claim its too long for lapsing then hide in their house till finishing time

He gets ignored by every postie if there is an issue.

They show the newbies what to do. So that's about a weeks worth of work out of fifty two.

You train new recruits and help with any delivery queries any posties have. You go on courses on any changes like the new PDAs or new ways of working. I would jump at the chance.

ps it will impact on your day as you are often helping with problems so its not money for nothing. You may in some cases lose your walk and be a reserve for long spells while the new recruits are on it.

In our office they do the sh**ty work the DOM and assist DOM can't be bothered doing - like speaking to the OPGs regarding complaints, missed tracked scans, missed 3d scans, why tracked items have been returned and have you tried DTN, vehicle checks etc etc! They get some stick of the workforce I can tell you! They'd need to be paying a damn sight more than £30pw to get me even half interested!!

Don't write it off so quickly. Apply, try it, you're not signing up for a tour of duty in Afghanistan or something. If you don't suit /like it, then stop. Nothing ventured nothing gained. If you're a well respected member of staff you shouldn't be getting stick off your colleagues. To the ones who say '£30 a week for doing jack shxt ' I say, why don't you apply? Soon shuts em up.

Yup sign up for it, take the £30+ and see what happens. Basically the more you do the more they expect, the less you do and the worse you do it/ longer you take the the less they will expect. General RM philosophy basically, path of least resistance, and at the end of the day you can just tell them to stuff it. Of course you will get a load of shonet from your colleagues for earning more and doing bugger all, but just remind them they had every opportunity to apply themselves. GL

There's 2 wpc in my office and not one of them does anything apart from the time they showed a few of there friends how to work the new pda's the rest of are still waiting 6 weeks later

They are supposed to train new entrants, train on any new procedures or equipment that becomes available, and do some managerial tasks e.g. deal with complaints.

But in general they do very little..

What some of them don't know is that the reason that they get paid the £36 a week is that they are agreeing to train a new entrant and then give up their walk for 6 weeks so the new entrant can get used to the job on the same walk.. though i have yet to see this enforced in my office.
