Sick days after holiday

Post by Dazzer67 »

I've been trying to find out what the situation is for having a couple of days off sick after a week of my annual leave.

I've been paid statutory sick pay for my weeks leave, I was sick on the Monday and Tuesday the following week after my holiday.

I phoned to let my manager know that I was ill on the Monday I was due back to work before the start of my shift.

Is it right that I got paid statutory sick pay or should I have holiday pay?

Many thanks

With Royal Mail you don't work a week in hand so what you received on the Friday of the week you were on A/L was you're holiday pay (though it doesn't state holiday pay on your payslip)
Now if you're getting SSP I'm guessing you've been at RM for less than a year so are not entitled to full pay if off sick.
When sick is keyed to RM's computer system (PSP) it is keyed without an end date. The end date is keyed when you return to work. Now because the pay deadline passed with you classified as being off sick, the system has assumed that you are sick for the whole week, so has paid you SSP for the week.
The underpaid amount will be included in the following weeks pay
