Hi, I'm sure I read somewhere that if your scheduled rotating day off falls on a public holiday, an effort should be made to give you this day back as soon as possible? Not just add it to your ever increasing allowance. I know this isn't always possible, but can anyone point me in the direction of the guidelines? Thanks

Most find it less hassle to just simply get overtime instead of a lieu day, book your normal hours for that day as "b/h excess."

For the lieu day you have, see your link, asking for a specific day off you want. When you succeed, buy a lottery ticket.

Say if Christmas day was a Tuesday, and that was my day off. I could claim that as 'b/h excess'?

Yep, that's what I'm saying.

Another alternative is that you can request an extra day off in that bank holiday week, but just like normal one-off lieu days, the odds of your lino being organised enough to grant this are slim to none.

Yes, they don't advertise it though and if you claim it they will probably forget to input it and you won't get paid anyway.
