Hi
I would be grateful if any union rep could help me with the following questions.
1. If I'm on a 30 hour contract and they are changing my duty to 29 hours, do I have to go down to 29 hours?
2. Do you have to take driving duty if passed necessary training and tests.
3. Can I be forced to work a split shift. Like 4 hours in morning then 2 hour break then two hours late afternoon?
4. One of floating duties is being covered by part timer getting paid overtime if I'm ahead of him am I entitled to the overtime covering floating duty first?
Thanks in advance any help would be appreciated.

They can't forcibly reduce your hours. All they can do is offer you a buy down, compensation for reduction in hours.
Although technically they could move you to a different office, if you didn't accept the duty on offer in that office.

No. The agenda for growth agreement states peoples will not be forced to change their contractual hours: Page 8 http://www.cwu.org/assets/cwu/legacy-as ... Full-time Employees will remain full time unless they volunteer to move to
part time hours. Part-time Employees will be entitled to retain their existing
contractual hours if they wish
I think it depends whether you are a current driver and if you were recruited on an "occasional driving" basis. However, the answer is yes you can withdraw from driving in principle, but of course, there may be contractual issues which would make it more difficult. It could also mean that in order to fulfil your request you may have to move offices.polar bear wrote:2. Do you have to take driving duty if passed necessary training and tests.
As long as they give you reasonable notice of the change they can. Usually, it's 28 days, But you can appeal if it is going to cause hardship or problems, or you can apply for Family friendly duties but they don't have to acquiesce.polar bear wrote:3. No, overtime should not be offered on a seniority, however, it should be offered to those willing and able to do it on an open, fair and transparent basis. The actual method of awarding overtime is usually down to the local offices.polar bear wrote:4.
