What is a mail Diversion?

Sorted some letters today with stickers looking like simple redirection stickers and a Royal Mail logo on it saying Offical Diversion. Looked like some kind of scam to me but I've been assured it is a service we offer.

What is it?

Not sure why it is different to a redirection but I have a business on my delivery that has a diversion , I have to re order stickers direct from the manager. I had a redirection to a different address come in but was told the diversion took precedence.

A Diversion should be taken out if your business is moving out of a multi-occupied building (where mail to one or more business is delivered to the same unique delivery point).
