Career Break Issue

Hi

Would appreciate some advice regarding the abysmal treatment I have received and am still receiving regarding a request for a career break.

I applied for a career break in early July this year, through my manager, who said he would have to ask his manager. I heard nothing and after 7 weeks asked if there was any feedback. I then received a telephone call from my manager on a day off and he relayed a message from his manager that my reason wasn't good enough and it was denied. I emailed the more senior manager asking how this could be. I meet all the criteria and the reason is important to me. Several emails went back and forth in which I further explained my reasons and then he said he would come in to the office and agreed a meeting date. Another 9 days go by and he didn't turn up fro the meeting. Another meeting was arranged, which went fine, there was no disagreement about my reasons this time, but the tack this time was that no career breaks are being granted by the Royal Mail. He agreed to ask his manager (who will be a delivery director) as I am only part time (3 days a week) and said he'd let me know by last weekend. What is the point of Royal Mail offering career breaks if they apparently refuse to grant any. ?

I heard nothing by the weekend so emailed on saturday, but received no reply. I emailed again yesterday and received a reply saying when he hears he'll let me know.

The date I asked for is now only 12 days away. I have been mucked around for almost 3 months. I can't plan anything properly and I think my treatment has been awful. I really feel like starting a grievance procedure. I think they are just stringing me along in the hope I'll just leave. In which case I lose all my shares and a job to come back to.

As time is an issue to you now I would contact Moyà Greens office and ask for their comments.

If you start a Grievence the days will tick past before any action ( if at all )

I was turned down for spurious and discrimantory reasons in my opinion.
Is there a particular route or email address to contact Moya's office ?

If you leave after 15th October you can keep first bunch of shares as long you was employed at the time to received it.
