Union levy - opt-in

Pulled out after the terrible general election but want to opt back in now Corbyn has won. Is there a form I can print off?

When I opted in I just sent an email to info@cwu.org

with my full name, membership number, branch name and its number as well

By your comment, I assume you will opt out now ? So much for the democratic system. Why not go ? Your reasoning seems to smell of "...? Maybe join/support ukip, or Tory party,, Mm, probably already a member.

A good man to have in time of need ! Lol. You would be a good hurdler, jumping fences as you do ! IF and I will repeatIF you have any principals, you would remain true to any labour based leader. The union movement under labour support has achieved all you currently enjoy as an employee. It was hard earned, by people with more back bone than you obviously have !

tommyrep that is rather harsh. You can't blame people for having become disillusioned by the Right of the Labour Party who were virtually the same as the Tories.
We should be glad that people are now returning to support a re-energised Labour Party. I rejoined as a full member after leaving due to the war on Iraq and Blair's Thatcherite policies. I hope things will change now.

Well done Hitcher! You should also think about joining the Labour Party now.

CWU Opt In on my wage slip, is this what you are talking about? Please could someone tell me what this even means? Do you pay less if you Opt Out, and what would I be opting out of!???

It depends how much you pay, but its around 10 or 20p.

You'll be opting out of the Political fund, which has some effects.

At present if you opt in you get to vote for Labour Leader as an affiliated member, if you Opt Out you won't.
Not all the money goes to Labour, some of it goes towards the Unions Political activities both nationally and locally.

Some of it goes to MPs in the Communication Workers Union all-party parliamentary group, and some of the MPs are actually members of the Union, so we get influence that way as well/

CWU Opt in is £3.56 on my wage slip if you want too become a full member of the labour party it is £23.50 so I get up dates on my local area and party meetings on the whole I would recommend it if you would like to become more involved. As to paying the opt-in see your rep or go on the cwu website cwu.org.uk
