Advice please Grievance?

Hello,
Impartial advice please:
My shared van partner p/t 30 hr contract no indoor prep or sorting to do keeps complaining to the Dom about me being too slow with my indoor work. she comes in 1hr 25mins before her start time four out of five days a week on payed overtime prepping her own walk nothing else to do.
I am f/t, start on time have my own prep to do D2ds plus 1 and a 1/2 hours IPs that has been sorted from 5.00 each morning on overtime and then have to do the same all over again on another walk this being my part of the indoor element has opposed to walk sorting.
She said to me the other day that she had agreed with the Dom that she would go out early deliver her last loop & that when the time come for me to do my last bag she would leave me, finish take the van back & that I should walk back to the delivery office at least 1/2 mile away.
Told them both to *************** ever so politely.
Wouldn't mind but we always finish before time even with double lapsing!!!
Should I put in a grievance against them both & on what grounds.

let them go for it, 1 quick way to cut that idea is to leave your last loop stating it now takes you 30 mins to pouch off,
i'd also time it so you take your break when partner returns after nipping out, they may then take 2 loops out early, if she does that, make sure you're bundled up and ready for off and make them aware you're now waiting for a lift out.
i'd play them at their own game

If her finishing time is the same as yours and doing a van share I don't see how it can be any different then tell her b**** and if he agrees to her finishing early and going home leaving you out there put in a grievance and flag it up to the SOM, your DOM's boss or even Moya. Royal Mail want everybody to work the hours they are paid.

I can not understand how the 30 hour contract workers can have the walks preped for them, the walks are not six hours so she must have at least an hour and a half to do some prep work even if its the packets redis and missorts. Ask the Dom to stop her O/T so she is not be ready to go out before you.

Sounds like your Partner must have more neck than a Giraffe? Always amazes me at how some Posties believe they can carve up a Duty to suit their person likes & dislikes. Wouldn't be so bad if she was expecting you to drop her off but just to nick the van...Cheeky Cow!

IMPO If you're the FT partner, and she's the PT partner, it's not for you to be making adjustments for her. The PT element is designed to Support the FT element. How come she gets OT just to prep her own duty? We have a few "Overtime Bandits" but if they come in early they're generally doing IPS, Parcels, Prepping PT duties etc.

Good Luck with your struggle (because it's going to be a struggle) and as Korky suggests: Probably the most effective strategy is to play her at her own game.

This sounds really bizarre and badly managed.

If you're both finishing early why is pressure OT being paid. Ignoring that if she's complaining about your prep rate, why hasn't the manager got her to part prep your walk.

Finally if she wants to finish early she can walk back to the office and leave you the van!

But in short the whole situation is farcical, I would get your rep involved if she keeps needlessly complaining, it's tantamount to harassment.

If I prepping my walk then I help prep my partners walk. Is that not how it works everywhere?

To be honest my office is really poorly managed too self regulated by the other wanna be manager posties!!

Dim does not want to get involved in the challenges of a days work unless of course it has a direct impact on the way it makes him look to HIS manager.

And unfortunately for me I am the non driving partner so I am screwed on that level & yes she is a cheeky cow with her own agenda.

On my longest loop 1st bag she finishes first she has the shorter loop on this one, this is where she should go deliver over sized parcels. Instead what she will do is drive round to her 2nd loop & deliver all or some of the packets from her 2nd bag so she does not have to take the trolley out & then expects me to drive round with her to deliver the over sized which is what she should have been doing in the first place. Pulled her up on this but it is still happening gaffa don't want to know because she is stuck right up there where the sun don't shine if you catch my drift

Its a complete joke from start to finish

anyway gonna roll with it on a daily basis to see what else she can come up with & take it from there.
6 D2ds next week so that will hold her back a bit

and she does like to finish early.

We've had a similar situation on a Van share. Not a problem when it's the normal crew (because their both Runners). But when a slower Reserve is on the Walking Element the Driver will often "Disappear" and do part of "His" Duty ,then re-appear take out the "Walker" and when he's finished the rest of "His" Duty he gets the "Walker" to drive him back and knocks off! The "Walker" then drives back out to finish his half!

Obviously the "Walker" needs to be able to drive (and I suspect this is half your problem Monkey? Very strange set up when the Driver comes in on a lesser contract, but I can see why you can't drop her off). As she's coming in early anyway would that help your situation? Just tell her to go out by herself and come back for you?

if this "walker" is happy with this arrangement then i guess its his problem....

Doesn't sound if the Walker is too happy with this arrangement. Just I've never seen this type of set up. But nothing surprises me with Royal Mail anymore.

I don't agree with your partners selfishness. It might not make sense why she should get overtime for prepping her own round when you could be doing it. But maybe its because your office is so short staffed that they now need to put in more indoor hours somewhere.
Perhaps thats why you have so much indoor work to do.

But then again you are both finishing early in spite of double lapsing!!

You don't need to put in a grievance. Just do the last loop and walk back to the office and claim 1hr 25mins 4 out of 5 days a week. That might give your DOM something to think about.
