Labour Leadership Election Ballots

There's another thread devoted to the issues around the election but has everyone actually gotten their ballots yet? I haven't yet and went through the whole on-line process?

No - not had mine yet. Had an email, what, 3 weeks back, from the union saying that as I'd had a vote before I'd get one this time as well - or words to that effect.
Not heard anything since.

Yeah, me too exactly. I've had friends - though, not in the CWU - get their ballots already.

I got my postal ballot this morning, but had already voted online on Tuesday when I received my email ballot notification.

Was that the CWU affiliate member vote Baldrick - or your vote by virtue of being a member of the Labour Party ?

Had mine a week or 2 back - straight in the bin, neither candidate worth the effort of a ' X'.

I was a bit shocked to get one actually, can only assume my CWU subs go partly to Labour - must find out if there is an opt-out.

It was my vote as a full Labour Party member. I didn't bother to register as an affiliate member, as I already had a vote.
I would guess the full LP members will be getting their votes first, then affiliate members.

Edit: There's an email in my inbox today from the Corbyn campaign saying ballots went out to full members and registered (£25) supporters last week. So the affiliated member ballots will be sent out this week probably. They do have to be checked by the Labour Party first to ensure that they have not already got a ballot as a full member or registered supporter.

yes there is an opt-out

You would not have got a ballot paper unless you registered online to get one, confirming that you support the Labour Party.
That letter you got was probably the one from Dave Ward asking people to register and vote for Corbyn.
The union affiliated members' ballots don't seem to have been sent out yet, only the ballots for full party members and registered supporters who paid £25, which were only sent out last week.

AFAIK even if you had a vote in the Leadership election last year you would still have needed to register again online as a union affiliate member this time. So if you didn't do that you probably won't get a vote this time.

Oh cool. Thanks. Something to look forward to this week.

After all the shouting, I just barely care about the results. But after going to the trouble of re-registering this time, and paying in every week, I want my money's worth!

Got this email from the Labour Party at the back end of July

You were eligible to vote in the 2015 leadership election as an affiliated supporter of the Labour Party. As a result, we've contacted your affiliated organisation to confirm your continued membership. We will then re-check you against the electoral register.

We will be in touch over the coming weeks, including letting you know if you need to take any actions, but in the meantime we wanted to share more information about our upcoming leadership elections.

Your right to vote

We will confirm your right to vote once we have checked with our affiliated organisations the status of their members. We will be in touch to let you know when this happens.

Assuming that you are a paid up member of your organisation or society, you will be able to vote and you will receive your ballot via email by the end of August.

OK jetblack, I'm not sure when it was the Labour NEC finally decided the eligibility to vote, excluding members who had joined after 12 January. I think that was when they also decided how union affiliated members would be included. I have deleted the email from the CWU and I didn't keep Dave Ward's letter as it obviously wasn't relevant to me. So I don't know whether you would have needed to register again.
I registered as a CWU affiliate member last year, and I thought the letter I got from Dave Ward said I would need to register with the Labour Party online to be able to vote this time.

I registered again, but still, as of 31st August, haven't got my ballot paper/email.

I'll give it a few more days and then raise it as an issue - don't want to leave it until last minute like in 2015!
