scheduled saturdays

What's the story with this .in our office only firms and rural drivers get this .extra money for working a sat and most of there calls are closed.I'm not trying to take money from anyone's pocket and I like all my workmates but the postmen work like hell and get nothing. We get 1 in six Saturdays off while they get more and they do only 2 hours walking. I'm sick and tired of being treated like an underclass in my office . The reps a driver so I suspect he's doing dodgy deals with the gaffer to keep himself and a few others on good shifts while the rest of us get less money less sat off and more work. How can this be right.

If they are on a Scheduled Attendance they ll get a different rate, same whether its on a Saturday or during the week.

Most scheduled attendance on a Saturday is Collections rather than deliveries! The drivers with a lot of Businesses tend to get them as Saturday Retention of Business mail tends to mean they have got the time.

In our office the guy who does the main business park during the week, gets 3 hours O/T for doing a Town Collection and Some Rural specials, whilst the rest of us cover whats left of his round on Lapsing.

Every office has it scams!

There's a guy in our office who collects from 4 boxes on his round yet fails to deliver the mail back to the office for the 3pm deadline... Because he goes straight home after his round and posts it in the morning!

What about people's 1st class mail, birthday cards etc that are getting delayed because he is too lazy to walk back to the office?!

It's madness!

I hope he has that in writing from the DOM because if he has they'll both need to make a trip to the Job Centre if the IB come kocking. Quite clearly its says in the security stuff we sign (or should sign) every year. ON no Account should mail be taken home" - ergo its a sackable offence, and its a chargeable one as well.

There used to be a Sub to our DLO , and it shut down about 10 years ago. Initially they sent the Crew bus out to get the Walkers and bring them into the DLO.
When we started Park and Loop they were either partnered with Van shares who took a Van home ( same village ) , or told they didn't need to return to the office.

This wouldn't be too much of an issue , except the post office in the Village wont let them Pouch off, If your teamed up with one of them, she ambles round because she lives on loop six, doesn't return to the office and isn't bothered that you ve then got a 40 min drive to return to the office.

You end up dropping her off with two bags at the end of Loop 4 and taking all her Scanned, Signed For or Specials and 739 items . its the only way you can get done without going over.

This has gone on now for about 4 years, its not too bad on low volume days, but its a real piss take on high volume days. Surely everyone has to return to the office and how they get to and from work is their problem, Not their van drivers or Lino's.
