Bring on 6 hour deliveries!

Currently I go out the office and come back 5 hours later. With the new 6 hour delivery being talked about, apparently I'll go out for 3 hours, come back and have a break, then go out again. I'll get paid for travelling back but not the break. So nothing will change except my hours indoor work will change to sitting in the van travelling back and forth. Sounds good to me, and I'll a proper toilet to use, not a bush.

Either way it'll still be the same mind numbing depressing gruelling crappie job it is now. Except turn over of staff will probably be quicker. Most folk won't come back they'll stop for five minutes then soldier on until they collapse.

Thats if you are lucky and keep your job as thousands of jobs will be lost.

Why would you not be paid for your break?

I expect if RM try to remove this then it will trigger industrial action, unless they increase our wage by 9.5% to compensate!

Should be interesting to see how they try to make this work. Its a near 20 min drive from the office to where we deliver. So we would be spending 40 mins of duty time to drive to and from our break on top of the 40 mins we already spend

Exactly. Some duties would have to be made smaller to accommodate the extra travelling time.

I was just going off what people have said on the forum, predictions, educated guesses maybe..

We've already got a couple of 6 hour duties, bearing in mind this includes a 40 min MR. What happens is those Duties do no Indoor Work (apart from prepping their duties) and no lapsing. So basically they've got 1 Hour 50 Mins to prep and get out the door, which can be a push.

These Duties normally incur Pressure Overtime on a daily basis, apart from Tues & Sat, and the Duty Holders will take lapsing and sometimes do Early IPS. They're favourites for the "Overtime Bandits". Some of who are regularly clocking up 20 hours plus a week of Overtime & Schedule. So they're obviously not too bothered about knocking off early!

The problem is that you are correct in theory.
But what will happen is the usual clowns will not take a break and stay out, get back early, have more put on them and f**k it up for everyone.

40 mins break for an 8 hour day,personally think it should be at least an hour . I'm sure other companies on 9_5 Shift get more then 40 mins

RM want to change our work times, union us want to be getting a lot in return.35 hour working week,1 hour lunch break, any other ideas.
