Seniority

Right. Just wanting to know the answer to a simple question which I've been given a few different answers.
If you start employment at Royal Mail on the same day as a bunch of other people, who has the most seniority when it comes to say a repick/vacancies etc? We got told at the induction that the person who was the oldest automatically ranks highest re seniority in such a scenario but people at work beg to differ. Help.

This has already been debated in a previous topic when it went to the toss of a coin. The way forward agreement at that time gave a clear indication how seniority would be selected on entrants on the same day. However selecting by DOB could be taken as discrimination and therefore I believe there to be several tie breakers alphabetical on surname and/or date of letter confirming date of employment.
