Voluntary Redundancy

Is there another round coming up soon, or has it been put on hold? Whats sort of off would a 36 year old with 13 years service get, or would they get rid of the older workers first? Thanks in advance.

my guess is that it would get done by seniority

I've no idea whether there will be another round of VR/EVRs.
But if they were offered it would be based on seniority.
If you were to be offered VR, at 36 with 13 years service you would get a payment of 48.75 weeks under MTSF2 terms. But with only 13 years you might not be senior enough.

In Deliveries VR is now not easy too get. Royal Mail now realise that if they let a Full time VR going at the cost of around an average of £50 grand than in all probability a part time in 6 months time will want an increase in contracted hours which obviously than means Royal Mail have given away £50 grand for nothing.

So VRs in delivery offices have too go through a much harder process too get VR authorised for an office including if the office is fully resourced and if any part timers are working above their contracted hours on the same piece of work.

ok dingo, but Mark Baulch was at our office in January gone. I was talking with him, and he mentioned the 6 hour delivery plan that's on RMs agenda. I asked him where was the extra work going to come from? he said other duties would be carved up and shared out and be put onto other duties. meaning that the duties that ARE going to be carved up and shared out will then become redundant. he said RMs plan is to reduce the existing 68000 deliveries that currently exist, down to 43000. meaning 25000 job losses. are these jobs not going to be ''voluntary'' redundancies, or will they be compulsory,?? which is the picture I am starting to get.

The jobs that are going will probably be through natural wastage, such as retirement and people getting sacked.

Daveyeff I know Baulchy really well was his best man! Mark is talking about if Royal Mail get their way with 6 hours spans and of course there will be VRs if that happens.

I am talking about currently ! Royal Mail after last years pilon VR exercise where they allowed loads too go but in some offices they are spending more this year than they did before the VRs.

OK, so what about VR in logistics? it appears to me that logistics has been ring fenced since privatisation. A numbers of us in our VOC wish to leave but have not had a sniff!!
Now that we have one logistics do you think this will change? There are big savings to be made in removing LGV vehicles from the road includind diesel, maintenance Etc. I have been told that taking a tractor unit and trailer off the road saves around 150k per year not including drivers wages.

Would be interested in your thoughts Dingo.

Royal Mail's recent strategy has been too reduce taking Mail by planes. Every plane they reduce saves them over a million pounds. However by reducing place you increase the amount of Mail which has too go by road. Until this strategy is worked through VRs will be limited , however my guess that there will be another network 16 at some stage.

Does this apply to full time posties with over 20 years service...

Say I have 21 years in... would I get the 50 k... if VR was offered...

Or would it be only as and when 6 hours deliveries where to come in.

Pants the average VR as it is done on seniority cost Royal Mail around 50 grand. Of course there will be some less and some more but this was the average when the MTSF review took place.

Regarding logistics, aren't Royal Mail training a load more LGV drivers so not sure redundancies will be coming along any time soon?

In my opinion (but what do I know

) the role most likely to disappear is the dedicated collection driver.
