Holiday rejected

Post by Knight1010 »

Just looking for help,

My previous DOM said verbally I could have the 27th August of work for holiday, providing I filled in a holiday request form. Therefore I booked the holiday. Now my new DOM has denied the request but I leave on monday. Where do I stand? If I just don't turn up can I be sacked? I'm only on a 5 hour contract so only need 1 day off.

As you are on such a minimal contract of 5 hours then and having given advanced notice of your leave it isn't putting the business to unnecessary upheaval for the DOM to cover your absence. If you are a union member get the rep involved to take this matter up. Your other alternative is to lodge a 2nd stage individual grievance form and this will be investigated by a manager at a higher authority level from your new DOM but time may be against you to have this actioned. Union rep is your best course of action.
