When is the CWU going to pull its finger out of its proverbial and stand up for us part timers that are being ritually exploited to fulfil the resourcing needs of a full time job?

In that very same boat here!ptopgusedandabused wrote:When is the CWU going to pull its finger out of its proverbial and stand up for us part timers that are being ritually exploited to fulfil the resourcing needs of a full time job?
It's a sad state of affairs when you can't depend on a union to fight your corner on this issue. At our MC, had numerous conversations with various CWU over the 10 years service without any joy. In fact our reps have just put together a new resourcing agreement to hinder part timers attempts to increase hours even more.

I know if they had an agreement that allowed this sort of thing. http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 53&t=59286" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;ptopgusedandabused wrote:When is the CWU going to pull its finger out of its proverbial and stand up for us part timers that are being ritually exploited to fulfil the resourcing needs of a full time job?

So nationally the CWU have done their job. Its now down to your local reps to step up to the plate, and you and your members to make sure they do. Start an email campaign, annoy them, but piss them off enough that they start to do something, if they can.The level of part time Employees’ contracted hours will be
reviewed by the Company and the CWU locally on a six
monthly basis. Where appropriate, increased contracted
hours will be offered to reflect the hours actually worked and
planned

The CWU may have did its bit nationally, but if it what mightyowler says above that it's been going on for years, then surely the CWU ought to put its weight behind us and stand for what it put in place. This responsibility buck passing only serves the highlight one of two points. Either the CWU is absolutely powerless to do anything or it has its own agenda outside of actually helping its members...TrueBlueTerrier wrote:I know if they had an agreement that allowed this sort of thing. http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 53&t=59286" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;ptopgusedandabused wrote:When is the CWU going to pull its finger out of its proverbial and stand up for us part timers that are being ritually exploited to fulfil the resourcing needs of a full time job?

25 hr contract, will be working 51 hrs next week, pretty standard in our office. Yes I can demand to only work my 25 hrs but no rounds fit round 25. There's a chance I may get a 30 hr contract as it has been mentioned but no full time contracts are going to be offered. My problem is I made myself too useful, learning lots of rounds, being flexible, driving when needed, I enjoy the variety of my job but on holiday recently of course I only got my basic 25 hrs that's the bit that irritates me the most!

All well and good telling us to make a stand. But how about making a stand with us instead of telling us we should do it on our own. We all work for the same company, we all should be working together. Why does their seem to be a split of full time and part time staff?
Who needs management to give us stress if we all just do it to ourselves as the workforce is split.
We need to start working together instead of just saying well you guys do this and magically everything should work out.

Easier said than done. You are right though. But myself along with thousands of others just can't turn down the O.T when it's there. Not on 27,24,20 hr contractsJpro747 wrote:When the PTers make a stand and only work their contracted hours?
