The CWU endorsement is just another nail in the coffin for the Tory landslide in the 2025 general election. Agree all you like with our Jeremy, the general populous will not vote for him .... which is an issue in elections.

If the public stop reading the tabloid press and form their own opinions they could well vote for Corbyn - but then Murdoch wouldn't want that would he.

Like the Murdoch rubbish above....must be the same ministry of misinformation used by the Remainers prior to that vote, too.

He can (and has) promised a lot, but as he's unelectable it's all academic. That said, with all the ever-increasing demands on the government budget, renationalising RM must be one of the lowest-of-the-low priorities. The Average Joe couldn't give a stuff who owns RM.

Who cares? They also realise this throw-back appeals to just about no-one and radical change is needed before Middle England puts a cross against Labour again, but that doesn't mean some grizzly old fool who talks like a 1970s student is the one to supply that change.

How dare Dave Ward declare that CWU supports Corbyn. What mandate gave him that right, were the membership asked ?
I do not support Corbyn and his cronies and will now consider leaving the Union after 29 years.

Are people on here so ill-informed on politics and the structure of the CWU that they are angry that the Union Leadership has endorsed someone, anyone.

There was a conference at which members representatives put the opinions of their branches and members forward. These opinions are shared and discussed at AGMs. One of these motions was to back a Leadership candidate. Whether you agree with the choice or not it was a unanimous vote. The Executive council of the Union also discussed the matter and also endorsed the choice.

Now, what does that mean for the average member? Nothing unless they wish to blindly follow the recommendation made without making their own minds up. They can't force you to vote for a particular candidate, all they are doing is endorsing a recommendation, just like the Mirror, Guardian, BBC et al.

If you are "disgusted" at the CWU recommendation then you need to ask yourself have you made any attempt to let the Union know your opinion by attending Union meetings and AGMs. Or perhaps we should have a meaningless, yet expensive ballot of all Political levy members when there is a leadership election of an affiliated political party or organisation.

Also if you don't agree with the way the Political side of the CWU works then withdraw yourself from the Political Levy. Vote with your head or your wallet, but at least make an informed and educated choice.

It's not like most of the PLP did anything to support us during the strikes a few years back. So, yeah. Even if Corbyn were the Anti-Christ himself, with the mark of the beast tattooed in great big red neon letters on his forehead, I'll still vote for him.
