That whenever you read the courier everything is honkey dory in the RM world. In our little office,(30+ colleagues) we have a manager who spends 50% of her time throwing up uncovered walks, surely a OPG's job; in nine years never had a mention of employee survey results, despite keep requesting. If you can be bothered to read the propaganda mag then everything everywhere is carried out according to the RM bible. How the hell do we get anything sorted in our little world, or does it all happen in the proper way, only in BIG OFFICES. Please don't mention the union rep, his only answer is its not my problem and then goes back into the locker to read his paper.

Send it back as "refused",they stop sending it then, work is depressing enough ,without having their propaganda rammed down your throat ,as it were, when you,get home.

To be fair, I've spent the past year doing EVERYTHING by the book, taking every break and allowance possible aswell as using every tool at my disposal.
After a few days of grumbling from the DIM I'm finding the job a lot easier.

Highlight the issues of the managers doing OPG work to your area rep.
But be sure as an office you are doing the job properly. How can you expect managers to follow the rules if your colleagues don't.

yeah, according to their union, RM would collapse without them doing our job,
hence they are/were boycotting doing our jobs

Are you in the union? If so, you are the union, walk up to the next one you see and say, kindly stop doing my work. I don't really know what you expect the union to do, ballot for action I guess but that is not going to happen.

Yes and I expect to be lead by the union not other way round. also while managers are doing opg work what chance has a p/t got of getting f/t while the figures are getting fiddled by managers doing opg work. hope that answers your question. keeps up much longer and my personal belief is a lot of union members are going to withdraw their dues maybe wake up call top brass in cwu need

OPG managers have always done postie work; it's their default when they can't think of anything more appropriate to their grade, plus for some reason they think it shows them to be good flexible all-rounders when "the going gets tough", and all that.
In reality it just shows how p*ss-poor the management selection criteria and training is.

Most of them are probably over promoted postmen anyway.

Why is 'their' union AND our union let them do it - aren't unions supposed to be brothers in arms......?

In our office, DOM and his line mangers do not do any OPG work but sit in their office read Sun newspaper , eat like pig and do cross words and put money on horses ...and Line Managers work six days ( one whole day on over time )... and end the year get £3000 + bonus too ... what a life ....

In our MC recently the acting shift manager is standing sorting mail is asked if their planned
industrial action is going ahead he says yes as of the following Tuesday they would be working
to rule then goes back to sorting mail, how could he possibly work to rule when he completely
ignores the "rules".
