van retention

We have been given one month's notice that the van retention is ending. Most live very local and the van's seem in more danger to me of being damaged as the yard is right next to the main road and not in a great area. I was also told that there was an agreement in 2003 that prohibits anyone from coming off the driving unless it's on medical grounds or you have had an accident.
A disagreement has gone in, but what is the chance of keeping the retention?

Zero. You are lucky to have been able to keep them this long as the practice has been banned from most offices already!

Absolutely none.Just happened in our office. Who cares if the vans get damaged in the yard? That's for the management to worry about. Truth is staff are only botherd because they will have to start making there own way to work. well no doubt there are all ready alot of your colleagues doing this. Just park it up and go home you'll soon realise it's the best thing to happen less hassle all round

We've all been told today van retention finishes 1st sept. Not really surprised it's all about saving money or seems to be now.

Not heard anything about this ending of van retention, personally - but to be fair, on my rural run, I am without a manager (even when required).

Does van retention save or cost them money ?

Sometimes it will save them - sometimes it won't.

Van retention is purely and simply to aid RM. Where it happens it is because the local parking or the office yard does not have enough space. We have vans going home in our office, personally, I would rather make my own way to work, having somewhere to park these vans that the majority of us didn't want is their problem. I would take one home, if they paid me for it.

they are RM vehicles and they can do what they like with them. When i comes to taking them home it is on a voluntary basis, you or i volunteer to take them home, we don't have to. Clearly some sites it is needed to get them off site so they will suffer the cost and in others the cost is becoming too much to take, hence the cessation of vehicle retention.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

How many of the sites that can't fit all the vans on site also couldn't handle 17 ton lorry from the local MC? Them sites I'd expect RM are looking at moving to where they can do both
