I have a question please twice now I have been challenged over what head office deem to be a pattern I had a day off 5 years ago in July and a week off sick July this year and was this is A pattern????wtf?my question is are they serious it's a joke right?its gotta be I saw my Union and he said it was a national thing and the union don't recognise it so if I get called in the office again about it can I refuse?are they questioning the genuine of my sickness?

4 years I maybe could understand at a push. Taking time off for World cup perhaps. Does seem very petty though. Probably some Jobsworth after a bonus.

Yes it has happened in my office, i believe there was a 3 year gap inbetween the absence but because the dates matched it was brought to the attention of the person concerned :crazy:

happened to me and a few others at my office , i told manager i get sick when i get sick , just another way of harrassing hard working staff.

I know an Area Rep who is off every March `on the sick.` :hmmmm Cheltenham? :whistle

personally know people on 4day weeks who think it grants them an extra 3 weeks leave a year. someday it will comeback to haunt them when they reach an RTU.

Unless it forms part of a review under the attendance procedure, i.e. you have fallen foul of the required standards within the 12 rolling period, just tell them there is nothing to discuss and if they wish to pursue the matter, to do so in writing explaining that they want to interview you regarding this issue.

Then use that as evidence and file a complaint.

The attendance procedure allows management the scope to have an informal discussion over patterns in sick absence even if it hasn't resulted in a stage review.
Twice in 5 years isn't a pattern, it's a coincidence.

Really it's from the old days when many people came to Royal Fail from the services. As in it's proper use.Return to Unit. :nana
