Odd Vacancy advert

Came across several job adverts like this and it seems a bit odd. Strange time to be advertising for temporary staff and there seems to be a lot of vacancies like this knocking about, cheaper than hiring real staff?

Driver Hire Plymouth & Cornwall
£8 an hour - Temporary
Working for an esteemed mail delivery firm, you will be required to go out with a driver helping deliver post from the Launceston depot.

About the job/ Candidate requirements:

• Days starting at 09:00 finishing roughly 15:00 primarily going Thursday - Saturday with the option to work extra days.

• A lot of walking is involved, sometimes up to 8 miles per day in various weather conditions.

• A High visibility jacket will be supplied but good walking shoes must be worn by the individual.

• Being a passenger in the mail van, a driving licence is not essential.

I know around Okehampton there is a firm delivering mail but not RM mail ,( a bit like whistl) the delivery office were getting complaints about misdeliveried mail.

Very low level though

Maybe it's the same company ?

Probably not RM, I would have thought that RM would insist on all new starts having a driving licence

This is RM's new way of employing Saturday staff but on zero hour contracts, they will most likely be employed by Angard or some other shoddy agency and will be treated like crap, being called at 7am when they're needed.
