New developments/extra houses

Hi,

Does anyone know the official ruling on extra houses on a walk ?

The walk i signed for has a new development getting bigger and bigger,But im still expected to do this within my time,These houses were not factored in to my walk when signed for,A few others in the office are in the same position but just expected to accept it,Any info appreciated.

Don't know anything official but if you are unable to complete then cull your last loop. Simples

just leave the new builds. not on your original walk so let managers deal with it

Its easy enough to say leave the mail,Let your manager deal with it etc.
But come christmas when there are roughly 150 houses extra on my walk i cant be doing with the constant arguments and confrontation with the manager as to why i cant complete my delivery,They seem to live for stressing postmen out.

Your not expected to do it within your time at all !
You are expected to work your paid hours and if that means cutting off with the extra houses then its not your problem , its the DOM's
Don't be pressured by management into going even faster.
Your round takes as long as it takes and don't speed up due to extra being put on your round because if you do management will only put even more on your round.
If you cut off most days then they can see there's a problem.

The good will of us posties is being used against us the work your break/early starters/runners give the wrong impression of how long the job takes inside and out. Work to rule is the answer but it will not happen to many of the above.

I don't understand how you all get stressed out or feel there's arguments regarding issues like this & cutting off issues in general. All you say is I don't think I'll be able to get all this completed in my contracted hours & I won't be working past my time.

If your duty is actually taking you up to roughly the same time each day & you are working at an acceptable pace both indoor & outdoor, then there is no argument to be had at all unless you clearly have time to spare too often. Offer them the chance to come out & observe you delivering, which tends to be any potential imminent argument crusher.. but if they sidestep that, then tell them you'll take out whatever they want, but make it quite clear that you won't be working beyond your time & there's a strong possibility of items being returned.

As soon as you inform them they ask why,Whats the problem? You will be ok,Etc etc,I can do without having to answer and justify myself,Im a grown man not a schoolkid,The attitudes of management stink and they should treat people with respect instead of thinking they are not doing all they can to do the job as best they can every day.

Whats the OFFICIAL (and agreed) way that managers are supposed to deal with new developments??

Offer it on overtime to duty holder
If duty holder accepts and inevitably runs round it for a few weeks/month - take away the overtime and tell them they were getting it done ok without the need for overtime

Thats probably what will happen

In our office, after a few weeks' grizzling and bitching by the duty holder these extra 50-odd houses when they appear tend to become the round's lapsing.

Management conveniently forget that its not only extra delivery time its extra D2D prep, extra letters and parcels as well before you even start

if few others are affect maybe it is bigger enough to have another walk duty, so try for that option.
