I have to go into hospital for tests this will take whole day, it is not something I can plan to take a day off for I just have to go when an appointment is available, would I get sick pay?

Ad hoc medical and dental appointments: If you’re unable to get a medical or dental appointment outside
of working hours, speak to your manager to decide whether you can change your shift or make up the time.
In some circumstances where that’s not possible, you may get paid time off.

Medical appointments: Employees should be encouraged to try and arrange medical appointments outside of
working hours, but sometimes, this is not possible. When an employee needs time off to attend an appointment that
has been scheduled during working hours, there is a legal requirement to facilitate time off. You might do this by
arranging for them to make the time up, swap shifts with a colleague or offer paid time off
