I started for rm just before xmas last year,no training ,no induction just got thrown straight into it ,I didn't mind ,i found that i absolutely loved it . I turned up for work every day ,usually early allways with a smile ,did my allocated work ,tried to fetch nothing back ,basically trying to do the job as well as i could.
in february i took a tumble and severely damaged my ligaments in my foot ,so badly the specialist said he'd only ever seen one that was as badly damaged, i had two weeks off then returned on light duties sorting rounds ,changing from 6hrs a day 4 days a week to 4 hours a day 6 days a week. my foot gradually got a little better and i was told by the doctor that i could do 1 hours walking a day for the next 8 weeks ,which was great as i really wanted to get back out.
every day i went to work despite the note i was given work that would take at least 1and a half to 3 hours ,and having to walk to the round ,my foot wasn't getting any better,in fact it was getting worse i mentioned this to the manager but didn't want to make too much fuss as lots of people who were injured were being finished .
i was constantly reminded by my line manager that my renewal was coming up and told that it shouldn't take this long to get better.
I also should point out that when the accident happened the depot manager didn't report it in the accident book and told me i wasn't to tell anybody that i'd done my injury at work or he'd be in trouble , i agreed to this as i didn't want to cause anybody any problems and thought that by turning up and doing the work i was asked to do i would keep my job.
to cut a long story short i didn't get my contract renewed as i" didn't meet the standards required" ,the accident never got entered into the book so making a claim against the council is next to impossible ,the union rep is not returning my texts anymore i feel extremely let down by all,all i wanted to do was the job i loved and do it well .
its now 5 months since i hurt my foot and its nearly back to normal i would love to go back but worry that this would stand against me if i were to reapply ,
it's hard to explain on here how bitter i feel ,despite lots of promises from the union rep nothing has been done to help me by the union or rm, i'm not a workshy winger or trying to get money for a spurious claim, i just wanted to be a postie , and through no fault of mine i can't .

get in contact with your local area union office and ask to speak to the area rep if your local rep is ignoring you, if that fails to happen get in touch with the head office in Wimbledon.
Hopefully you have got a copy of all the doctors certificate's you have received so to prove you were indeed injured doing your daily work.
you also have pay slips etc showing that you were employed by RM at the time of your accident.
take them to a tribunal for the following reasons, your manager has not filled in E.R.I.C.A at all, he also did not refer you to OH Asst and he went against your doctors advice.
keep your chin up and keep us posted.
Good Luck :)

Were you referred to OH Assist when you were off for 2 weeks and returning to light duties was that on the recommendation of OH Assist? If this did happen then you manager will have a copy of their report and take it forward from there. Manger not reporting your accident has breached H&S which RM is supposed to pride itself in.

i wasn't referred to anyone , i was just put into the sorting office ,where to be fair i was looked after by the other staff who would fetch me mail to sort ,if i took them to tribunal i doubt i would ever get reemployed , i actually really enjoyed the job.

Sorry to hear your story, it is shocking and not untypical, however hate to disappoint people but you cannot take your boss to tribunal on a temp contract , 2 years is now the minimum , so that would include permanent as well
