Anyone ever tried protein powders?
Got chatting to a guy who is at the gym all the time,he was waxing lyrical about the benefits of protein powders for muscle fatigue etc.
It got me thinking of trying to see if it helps.
I don't eat meat so don't get a lot from my current diet.
Anyone tried it?any side effects that could cause us postsies issues e.g needing toilet more etc?

How about some tasty Soylent Green?
Perhaps we'll all need some when 6 hour + delivery spans come in!
Seriously though, I tried protein powder a few years ago, gave me no end of digestive troubles - wouldn't want to be caught out half way through a walk....

I have used them in the past.
They didn't have a negative impact on my toilet habits, but as with most things they will likely affect people in different ways.
If you suffer from constipation or similar, it may benefit you, as higher protein diets are known to 'encourage' number 2's.
The only way you'll know is to try them.
Alternatively, do as pants123 says and eat eggs.
They're cheap, and can be prepared in many ways.
I used to know a body builder who'd boil them and just eat the white, as the yolk is primarily fat.
He had about 2 dozen a day, but was massive, 20+ stone of muscle.

The yolk is packed with goodness why throw away that? Plus the brain is powered by fat.UnhappyGremlin wrote:I have used them in the past.

There are no miracle cures for bad employers. We can try and stave off the inevitable, but the worse this wretched job gets, the quicker the inevitable will catch up to us, no matter what any of us try to do.

You should only really have one or two yolks a day, too much cholesterol otherwiseCreditshampoo wrote:The yolk is packed with goodness why throw away that? Plus the brain is powered by fat.UnhappyGremlin wrote:I have used them in the past.

D'bol all the way!! that way when your dom pisses you off and you pick him up and throw him at the wall you can blame it on the substance abuse
Protein shakes are great for aiding in recovery if you can't get a high protein meal after your workout (imo doing a walk is a workout...or as I call it, my warm up for the gym :p)
You can buy Casein shake to drink before bed which also helps your muscle's recover while you sleep,
I usually have a bowl of shredded wheat or weetabix with a Whey shake then have a big dump before i go to work, I then don't need to go until before gym (although most of the time i force that one...if you don't duke before you lift you're gonna have a bad time!!!)
Worst side effect is the worlds most stankiest farts depending on what brand you use
I've said it on here before the best thing you can do is stretch before you go out, you might look a mug but you will definitely find it helps.

People who use protein powder tend to wax lyrical about its benefits. But people who use protein supplements tend to be engaged in activities requiring supplementation - namely resistance training, either with a strength or hypertrophy focus. Funnily enough, the benefits of being bigger and stronger tend to include having more energy and being more capable in everyday tasks. There is also another thing to consider, people involved in resistance training tend to use other, less legal, supplements. While denying the use of the latter and praising their use of protein supplements - all hail protein! Protein is just protein. Proteins build and repair muscle tissues. In that sense, if you're not getting enough protein, of course you will benefit from supplementing with protein powders. But there is no magic to it. You can just as easily expand your protein intake by consuming more meats, or eggs, or by drinking a pint of milk before you go to bed.
