New contract when off sick

Post by CHEESEPIZZA »

I am currently off sick, and am due to return to work soon. I am Currently on p/t contract and have been informed by lads that there is a F/T 39hr position come up in our office ( no one officially told me from work ) Does someone from work have to inform me, and also, as I am the most senior , should I automatically be offered it, even when off sick, but due to return ? how does this work ?

a notice should be put up at work advertising the vacancy and the closing date for applications and then anyone interested would normally put it in writing to the dom that they want to apply.

you should not be automatically offered it (though you may automatically get it if you apply) and no they shouldn't contact everyone to let them know about the vacancy, putting a notice up at the office is all that is really required,

also worth pointing out that you may not get this vacancy as another more senior ft member of staff may apply for it, you may end up with a completely different resultant duty as it all bobs down the line

Thanks for reply, as far as I know, it has definitely not been put up in office, some of guys seen it online so is advertised on website only at the moment, and been on for a while. no full timers are interested as far as am aware, as are all happy with what they doing the now. I am most senior p/timer and if I apply, should I expect to get on this basis ?

you should expect to get it as most senior person applying for it (if you are) whether you are pt or not is irrelevant, putting it online would cover rather than putting it up in the office

Ok, thanks for clearing that up, & I can still apply even when off on the sick ? Do I just register my interest in writing to DOM ?

yes again irrelevant if your still off sick apply anyway, if it's being advertised online do both write to dom and also apply online just to cover both bases
