does anyone know if i have to work saturdays while I'm doing jury service or is this my RM rest day

Can my employee continue to work night shifts or weekends?
It is important that jurors are sufficiently fit and alert in order to carry out their important
public duty. Therefore we would recommend that they should not be made to work night
shifts before they are due in Court, or work weekends if this means that they do not have a
break from either jury service or their job for seven days.

Answer is simple.
If you work a 5 day a week and have done 5 days jury service, then RM can not make you work a Saturday, the Saturday will automatically become your rest day.

Royal mail dont pay you whilst on jury service, the payments actually come from the courts you file for loss of earnings from them, they only pay for loss of earnings so on a wallington week there is no loss of earnings just loss of time off so you would not get paid,

My dom is telling me I have to work next Saturday, we do Wallington weeks, so I have to do it because it makes up part of my rest week

No basically he has worked his/her hour's over the duration of the contracted hours of the period but you get weekly or monthly pay you should submit the form and be paid for the hours of attendance and send it back to your employer who will receive payment from the government but in my case the royal mail claimed it back from me. Because the managers were incompetent and I had to do all the work and it was work as for anyone you have contractual hour use those and get your employer to put down the hours you contractually work.

crap? so you got paid overtime over and above your contracted hours for jury service in this situation? that is exactly what your saying....

also what your saying is completely unfair to staff on a normal 1 in 6 day rotation , if they need to do jury service on their day off why do they not get paid ot the same as you claim wallington week staff do?

or maybe you have misread the original post which I think is the case, your pay during the wallington week is for the 6th day you worked in the previous weeks added up and paid in the 6th week, you are not paid during your days off in the wallington week for that week

you can't claim for your days off which is exactly what the wallington week is. If you do claim for loss of earning it's a false claim as there is no loss of earnings on your day off
