Work place erm coaches,,

Work place coaches, waste of time and money or? Weeks go past and ours do nothing at all , so thats about £40 a week wasted per ,,coach? They should get the money only when they actually train or coach someone ,. Try and put an hours overtime in if ure past ure time and its like someones been murdered! But the same token handing money out for no reason week in week out. Rant over

If Royal Mail are willing to pay people for nothing then let them. More money for the workers I say!

There are no work place coaches in Royal Mail who get £40 a week! But we have line managers who have just got 10 per cent of their annual salary as a bonus in our office (£4000) and that's what you should be commenting on!

£40/wk is nothing to this company, and if your DOM or lino have a problem with you booking OT - don't do any, they can't force you.

Our WPC gave me a Redirection from his round which was one of those letters you have to send back not redirect! Who coaches the coach?

Perhaps rep should be workplace coach. At least then they get some money for their efforts. And you would like to think they would train people properly. Every coach I've come across, won't say their useless, but I do struggle to see what exactly they are getting paid for.

If you're fed up with it, why not ask your dom if you can put your name down if there are any vacancies coming up to be a wpc? I usually find the people who are fed up with us getting the money would never do it as they don't want the added responsibility of training a newbie up or 'educating' and supporting existing workers when they mess up. They are finding us more stuff to do however, the problem is that there is no time to do it in. I for one though, take great pride and satisfaction in helping a new starter into the business and giving them the best possible chance of staying with the business, that in itself is saving the business money on re-recruiting and training.

Both our work time coaches need coaching , happy enough to take the money but not so keen to actually do some work whilst the rest of us carry them , one of them doesn't even know the sorting. I asked one of them for some help with the new PDA the other day after they had done two days training with them and I got a "Dont ask me I haven't got the time" ..... erm no but you have the money each week !!!

I was told at my induction (only a year and a half ago) that we were to carry bags up to 11kg (16kg for your first one). It wasn't until I started using this forum that I realised that was long outdated, so the coaches and trainers and whoever else are still being told to teach us the old ways, so I don't blame the coaches themselves for that.

I also wasn't aware that workplace coaches were a thing until about 4 months into my time at RM! One of them is good, he tells you whats what in a straightforward but helpful manner, the other shirks his duties and mainly just grasses to the dom whenever he sees something wrong like even one d2d out of place..but he's happy to do zero d2ds when he's covering a duty and leave the duty holder to do double d2ds the next day, hmmmm.

Workplace coaches are an absolutely brilliant IDEA, but somewhere down the line, putting that idea into practice has gone wrong.
