MAIL/PACKETS have been light now on a Friday for up to the last 8 weeks,and Saturdays have been extra busy,what the hell is going on,are items being held back for a Saturday in mail centres, to totally p**s off staff who deliver.Our weekends are short enough as it is now Saturdays are crazy,why not go to 5 days mon-fri.

Wednesday is absolute hell for us packet wise. Thursday/Friday a little better but still much worse than Monday/Tuesday/Saturday

Saturdays definately feel a lot heavier than they used to be. Our Saturday finishing time is just 5 min more than a Tuesday, yet were given nearly the same amount as a thurs/fri. But they know that most will rush round on a saturday and therefore finish earlier.

This whole month has been mad busy for mail, packets and parcels. Wednesday obviously busiest but really noticed Mondays and Saturdays are a lot busier than they used to be.

I understand the fustration regarding working Saturdays but no one should wish for something as simple as going to a straight Monday to Friday delivery.
If we were to go to a Mon - Friday then we would see 1/6th of our delivery staff disappear overnight along with staff in distribution, network and mail centres.
Our main customers would then be forced to look to alternative suppliers to deliver their goods.

This would be devastating on our livlihoods as we would all end up part time in a race to the bottom with our competitors.

and this is could be a HUGE problem, RM could easily point to these figures and wonder why we need longer hours on thursdays and fridays when we are showing it can be done in much less time on Saturdays.

Usually Wednesdays and Thursdays are mental for us, Fridays as well but not as bad. Monday is usually light on packets but a bit hit or miss with the mail. Tuesdays normally very quiet but with dom waffling on at wtl, it's rarely actually a short day. Saturdays are normally quiet enough too but this Saturday past was quite a bit busier than normal, but I did finish just within the duty time. Not a trend I've noticed lately though, usually too busy thinking about pints...
