New DOM
So at our 50 walks sized office we have recently acquired a new DOM. He has laid low for a week and has recently come out of his shell informing about 80% - 85% of the office that they are innefficient. The only people who seem to be efficient are those who are skipping breaks and coming in early... Even the rep has been told he is inefficient and seems powerless. None of these inefficiency levels have come from official tests. They are from geo route figures. What should we as an office do?

work to your time, stop working your days off, take all of your breaks, stop coming in early but above all Stand together, he needs you to deliver the mail, he can't do 50 walks on his own every day.
we have just almost gone through the same thing, see my post in the union room.

maybe you can try and find out what part of the job you are doing is "inefficient" ?
If delivery is taking too long, maybe thats because your doing deliver to a neighbour which as far as i know not factored into geo route ?
if he wants to claim your sorting or prepping is taking too long, well there are tests for that i believe...
maybe a word to your union rep to mention these things to the DOM would help and pin the bloke down to how he thinks things could be more "efficient"
If you believe youre working efficiently and he just wants more and more, then this is something i would definitely do.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Why would you care? It's the managers job to see the mail cleared not yours or your rep.Alfreton wrote:What's that achieve. What can the rep do about it? Let's say we all work to our time and there's mail left what's not being cleared then what?POSTMAN wrote:Get a new rep!

Just a quick question in relation to this: has it been agreed that a DOM can measure individual people's performance on the IWT and Georoute? IE, saying that you should be out of the office for X o'clock but you were out 30 minutes behind that time and so are not performing to an agreed standard? As well as this saying that if you are out for X o'clock you should be able to complete on time in accordance with georoute?

I like to see the customers get a good service. Not failed doctors appointments, bank statements, Father's Day cards, birthday cards etcdvbuk55 wrote:Why would you care? We all should care. I do not cut off at the moment but its a bit annoying when you get an extra hours pay for going the hour over then the next day people get two hours for delivering their cut offs.Alfreton wrote:I like to see the customers get a good service. It's an admirable sentiment. Let RM concern themselves about quality of service by employing more staff and making deliveries that can be completed within the time scale.Alfreton wrote:I like to see the customers get a good service. Never looked at it like that before. Have to focus on your own delivery and not others I feelcpsteve wrote:We all should care.
