is there any news on this poor guys case? its been months, and no word. seems like RM are intent on sweeping this situation under the carpet. are the union continuing to back him?...anyone?

Like you, I have been wondering exactly the same thing. It has gone far too quiet, surely the Union will not give up on this case. If they do what's the point of being in it if they don't fight for justice. I for one would hate to be in this poor Guys shoes, he must be totally devastated....waiting ......waiting.... waiting...... for something to happen. Quite sure RM would like to sweep it under the carpet, let's hope this doesn't happen.

Because he is over 55 and unlikely to get another job because of that, and probably the suspicions aroused unfairly by Royal Mail.

there is stuff going on behind the scenes and not much more can be said. The Union are quite rightly playing the cards close to their chests.

He is making a stand against Royal Mail which is in his & everyone's interests, these are the people you support and then in years to come the Mitchell rule might save many more!

would you accept being labelled a thief and being dismissed from your job, therefore making it neigh on impossible to get re-employed, if you had done nothing wrong, for what really is a small amount (just over 2 yrs pay). knowing you would make a hell of a lot more if you remain in employment.

You try walking in this mans shoes for a week. An innocent guy does not want to be paid off. Royal Mail have made a terrible mistake in this case so the Union must act accordingly to help. If this case is lost what use is the Union?

Just to clear things up a bit - has Dave Mitchell been paid £50k compensation for being wrongly sacked ? Cos I think these rumours have been muddying the waters a little.
Would he give it back if he were reinstated ?

If he has been paid 50k and does get his job back he should still keep the money to help pay back for the damage done to his name,as I'm sure some of the muppets that work for RM will be whispering "no smoke without fire" and all the other gossip that petty and small minded folk will come up with,good luck to him and remember it could be anyone of us.

Dave Mitchell has always said he does not want the compensation, he has NOT touched it, it is sitting in an account waiting to be given back if he can get his job back. This has been reported in various newspapers etc. What he wants is his job back - he did not do what RM have accused him of. He is an innocent man whose life is being ruined by RMs botched investigation.

Union is briefing and visiting individual office in the region to get better ballot results than last time when cheeky RM lawyers challenged it..the case is not forgotten and sure will make headlines again soon

You do realise accepting the money on legal advice, and accepting Royal Mails position are 2 entirely different positions. He has done 1, but not the other - hence he will give it back if reinstated.
