Acess to ERICA for accident reporting.

Hello all.
Just a quickie.
A chap at work banged his head in a box and got concussion.
Should he be allowed to have an Erica filled in ? We've had 'varying' responses.

It's the employees own choice whether an accident or incident goes in the accident book (Erica is royal mail's accident book) so if he wants to then yes manager is not allowed to stop the reporting of accidents/incidents

RM will endeavour to have this classed as an " incident" or an unsafe act was committed by the employee so the circumstances on how he managed to bang his head in a box would have to be investigated. Because an " injury" has occurred this should be entered into the accident book and referenced preferably within 24 hours of this happening and an ERICA completed. If this chap is absent from work for 14 days as a result then a RIDDOR should be completed and the H&SE informed.

riddor is needed after 7 days of absence not 14, also rm don't have an accident book and Erica, Erica is the accident book

the loss of consciousness caused by head injury or asphyxia is a reportable injury.
For further guidance on specified injuries is available.

Over-seven-day incapacitation of a worker

Accidents must be reported where they result in an employee or self-employed person being away from work, or unable to perform their normal work duties, for more than seven consecutive days as the result of their injury. This seven day period does not include the day of the accident, but does include weekends and rest days. The report must be made within 15 days of the accident.
