We had a 28 hour contract part time job advertise and we had local guy who we all knew and wanted the job,he applied on line did the test etc.20 applied with 6 to get interviews. He was told by email,he had been unsuccessful,local guy good attitude etc etc,a bit miffed he didn't get at least an interview,how does selection work?? Any thoughts? Our Dom to get to do the interviews from no doubt people far and wide!!

The tests are quite annoying and all have to be done within 24 hours of applying

HR will handle the applications up until interview, so I doubt your DOM can have much influence before that stage.

Yep very true we have seen the final 5 to interview which we thought was going to be 6? None of us knew any of them? Oh well

Yes indeed we did speak to our Dom and informed him we had an ideal local person who would be well suited to at least get an interview he was keen for our input ,but alas he didn't even get an interview,I dispair with this company,and disappointed at the lack of spine and support our Dom has'in fighting our corner on all issues

I'm getting on that myself - got a nice night shift that I can love to do and hopefully I be thought of to be taken on - keeping fingers crossed....

wow never heard of a night shift that can be classed as nice. They kill you early

Once theyve had an interview and passed the security checks the dom can get them in, not before.

Security checks are post interview, where documents are handed in.

Update on this 31 applied down to 6 to interview only 3 turned up??

Not surprising really. Takes months to get to interview stage. Sure quite a few have found other jobs by then.

Well, it's kinda of my last hope with the Royal Mail - did have a good position at another site but I been kicked out by another manager who took a dislike to me and just got me shifted without telling me anything....
