Night shift lapsing

So they lapse one CSS Operator/IPS sorter night turn and bring in delivery staff early on overtime every morning to cover the IPS that's not done. Can anyone see the logic in this ?????

how would they get a bonus for that? surely, it costs more to bring blokes in to cover a duty. unless it works out less than the nightshift allowance....

even if paying 5 hours ot (which they probably not paying that much for) for the ips they are still saving a few hours compared to getting the full shift covered

Also, as I understand it, and I may well be wrong, there is a target for the number of hours lapsed, if they reach that target then it forms part of their bonus.

they keep trying to lapse one of our CSS duties. We have 3 operators for 2 machines. They think it can be done with 1 operator per machine.

Or if it's busy, just use one machine. They haven't got a clue.

Why's this not done, why's this office not ready, why are you just sitting there printing out labels???

Why doesn't a nominated person print out the labels the day before?

TrueBlue is right. The sheer greed of management, at each and every level, coupled with the absolute contempt they hold their staff in, is the real reason absorption is inflicted on people. I hear rumours that even the lowliest grade of manager in Royal Mail gets an annual bonus that runs into the couple of thousands at the very least.
All off the backs of the real grafters in this Godforsaken business.

Just start sending batches out without any labels, the other offices will soon start to moan and the manager that doesn't like you printing labels will soon get it in the neck

so what happens to the person who's due to operate the machine for that shift. ...if his duty is lapsed do they just send him home without pay?
