Changing my Hours/Duties

So currently i'm contracted to 18 hours. On average i do between 30-40 hours a week.

My DOM manager is proposing I do a 0945 start to do a delivery duty then carry out a collection afterwards which commences at 1600 working until 1800. This would be on a 5 day period equating to 40 hours.

Being part time is holding me back with regards to getting a Mortgage which i find frustrating due to the fact i work full time on average.

Where do i stand with regards to turning this down?

Would there be any contractual obligation to increase my hours if i agree?

I don't really fancy finishing at 1800 due to the social impact it would have on me.

Firstly are you the most senior part timer in your office? This will have a big bearing on where things go from here

You can work 18 hours every week if you want, there is no obligation to work any more.

No, not at all. It goes on seniority. You working so many hours every week shows there is a good case for getting hours added, but it won't be your contract.

Of course, all those in front of you in the queue could be happy with their hours and may turn down any increase.
