D2D Prepping

The DOM at our office has informed us that Door 2 door items should be the first things to be prepped into a frame in a morning. It was my understanding that they should be prepped after all mail is in the frame with the exception of there being downtime where there is little or no mail to prep. Can anybody point me in the right direction as to whether I am right or wrong?

Why 20% per day? Is that from any specific agreement?

I think you will find there is no national agreement in force that says 20% per day

I find it easier to put mail in when the d2ds are in the frame first but everyone's each to their own, also you don't need to put 20% a day, it's just a guideline management use to ensure they are all delivered that week.

Mind you, no manager has ever said forget about delivering the d2ds today when I've wanted to work to time..

Absolute rubbish!! Take 100% on a Monday or a Saturday it don't matter as long as their all completed by saturday

I thought it was around 17% or just below a day because that's what's is planned in the workload for the day.for those who come in early or prep them at the end of a shift for nothing,you are the ones making this job harder than it should be.

theres no set rule, other than they have to be done by the end of the week. The DOM is probably doing this as hes having to return a lot of d2d each week, if theyre prepped in first the managers can walk around and see that they are being done. For things like this its up to the DOM and you dont have much argument as its a reasonable request.

Does everyone now make up door to doors and box them in to the frames of the 2 , 3 or 4 jobs they have to box in ie after sequenced ? Or is this not an agreement with the cwu??

Putting d2ds in the frame AFTER mail is a massive pain in the hole. In my office we put them in in the morning (roughly 20%) before doing our sequenced, it's just easier that way. Useful to know that there's no set rules aside from it needing to be done by the end of the week though (duh lol), I might try using that info when the manager next moans at me for throwing them all in on Monday and taking where I'm going, which makes so much more sense than doing 20% and then ending up with bundles FULL of d2d and maybe one or two pieces of mail.

d2D times are built into your prep times on the IWT at about 20% a day.Thats how managers can measure your workload.So don't come in early to prep them and try and do the fixed amount everyday.

tell that to parttimers who come into a frame with no redirections done, no packets sorted and no d2d's thrown off, yet expect to get there duty done in 5 hours ha!

20% per day leaves out one day a week, it's around 16.6% to spread it over the week, doing 20% undermines those figured you mention in the IWT also

Our doms have always told us to have it done by Friday, I've never seen anyone in our office deliver d2d on a Saturday

The actual door to door agreement allows the postie to manage it himself so in fact there is no actual percentage per day, he could theoretically(probably happens some places anyway) do them all on a monday as long as it doesn't incur ot. I only mentioned spreading over 6 days as that's what the IWT does with 16.6% per day not 20%
