I think we are in the same position as the ordinary public, they have no real choice of political parties, either Cameron (Tory), Brown (New Labour/Tory). The CWU had to choose between Keggie (Blairite) or Hayes (New Labour/Tory) & Hayes was the lesser of 2 evils. Hopefully when Hayes comes up for re-election, we will have a good opposition candidate to vote for (Labour/Socialist).

least keggie is customer friendly. as for hayes he hides away and says nothing keggie tells it like it is and will keep us informed all we want is a bit of up to date information not the cia

with all due respect to the late Jimmy Knapp , the RMT went from the "corrupt right wing old guard " to the left with Bob Crowe . Crowe was a excellent organiser under Jimmy Knapp and Bob always gets something. The only drawback with that sort of leader is they can be the Pied Piper of Hamlyn but they are dealing with some very aggressive & confrontational management .
The thing that went wrong with the Tories/New Labour trying to tame the unions was that ASLEF became even more powerful as drivers would just go and work for companies with better T&C's .
If Hayes doesn't get re-elected he's not exactly going to get headhunted so the likes of Brown can say scuttle this strike for us and we'll look after you. The Black Art of the possible , a game of chance & contigency.
