Sick leave

I havent has a days sick in the last 9 years now this week i have a terrible abcess, its spread from my one tooth to near my eyes and jaw.I phoned in sick monday and got myself seen by the dentist and got some amoxicillin.Well today theres only a minor improvement and this weekend is my long weekend(Sat off and mon)
If i do improve and go into work friday all ok, but if i cant would i say i am coming back to work sat my day off but take the day off as normal? if it gets no better does a dentist have the power for a sick note? just i,ve heard i cant see my gp with this problem.Thanks in advance!!

you have stated that you" haven't had a days sick in the last 9 years" then if you are concerned about receiving a formal absence stage 1 you have 13 days absence before you would trigger a stage 1 warning. Remember your day 0ff sat/mon would be included in the 13 days but hope that this amount of time would assist in a more realistic recovery before returning to work. Also you can use the 7 day self-certificate to cover this part of your absence but you will be required to submit a GP fit note for the remainder. On what you have described don't foresee a problem.

Your health should be your first and foremost concern. This (now) wretched organisation, has been going for hundreds of years and will continue to do so I suspect, long after the likes of you and I are gone, if the current senior management don't destroy it first. They don't give a toss about you,so don't make your condition worse by going in and then having more time off. Hope you feel better soon!
